” We learn to speak our own body’s language as we listen and experiment.”
My name Is Shannon Gail Harden, and I am a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert, and a mother of 4 who has done a lot of inner work that has translated into slowly and surely renovating the shape of my life; baby step by baby step.
This work continues daily and is part of how I show up in the world. I read once that “a baby step is a great, unbalanced, wholehearted, enthusiastic lurch into the unknown” ( Olivia Smith via Twitter @OliveFSmith) and that is how I think we change our lives; we take one tiny yet audacious lurch towards our dreams and goals at a time.
I care deeply about health and wellness being a basic human right and about it being specific to each person. All aspects of our health matter; we are each an entire ecosystem with specific needs for care and maintenance. Our bodies are always telling us what we need, and we learn to speak our own body’s language as we listen and experiment.
I am passionate about making all sides of health and wellness accessible for people of all walks of life and economic statuses. Wellness is both personal and communal and I am excited to be part of the growing body of health coaches empowering people be the catalyst for change in their own lives as well as in their communities around them.
We are in an ongoing and ever-changing relationship with our food. This approach involves embracing the idea that each individual human has their own personal body, genetic background, culture, preferences and needs and that our personal, optimal diet is based in that. This food philosophy is the jumping off point for diet exploration in our coaching sessions.
Movement is more than just exercise. It's about engaging in activities that care for our whole self. Whether it's yoga, hiking, weight training, running, swimming, dancing or anything else, I will encourage you to choose physical activities that feel good to you and that bring you energy and joy. If you don't know what those are yet, I will be encouraging you to try new things and find what you love.
Self-compassion is essential. It is the basis for creating a life that you can thrive in. With an emphasis on self-compassion and curiosity, instead of shame and judgement, we are able to explore our mental and emotional worlds. As we understand and nurture our mental health and emotional wellness, we are so much more able to know what we want and what we need. We are then more able to find and ask for support and embrace or find our community. I emphasize the development of this skill, and we practice it in a judgement-free way.

“I’m so grateful to Shannon Gail Wellness for her kind and practical help with meal planning. After years of personal and family burnout, planning and making dinners has become nearly impossible. I was able to tell Shannon the limitations I have regarding energy, neurodivergent children’s sensory needs, and budget. She listened compassionately and without judgment. The meal plan she created for me was exactly what I needed. It helped me to keep my food expenses down, as well as offer my family more simple, nutritious meals.”

“I am in graduate school and have a lot going on. Shannon helped me talk through my priorities and come up with a health vision for myself. It helped me be able to balance my goals and put my time towards the things I want in the long term while taking care of my short term needs and deadlines. I highly recommend her, she made it natural and fun to talk through.”

"I really enjoyed health coaching with Shannon! She not only helped me talk through and create daily habits to help me reach my fitness goals, but she was very easy to talk to and a great listener. I also really liked she took a holistic approach. She was comfortable letting me talk about my fitness, diet, mental health, and personal goals. She didn't try to make me fit into a particular regimen. Five stars!"
